Bring to life unique projects at a diverse metal fabrication company that does top projects around the country in the areas of architectural feature work, monumental stairs, and custom designed handrails.  Use your talent and creativity to work on multiple design aspects in a range of projects in the pharmaceutical and construction marketplaces.  The Design Engineer will create, develop, analyze, and maintain product design in accordance with customer need; utilizing modern manufacturing methods and in accordance with all acceptable codes and standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Utilize specialized software to create models and drawings of custom products in the architectural marketplace.
  • Produce detailed drawings showing all necessary tolerances and dimensions, required by each manufacturing operation.
  • Maintain drawings, product structure, and design standards in accordance with modern methods and procedures. 
  • Review project details with both internal team and external customers to design parts and create a customer approval drawing, as necessary.
  • Provide design records and technical specifications to manufacturing department and work hand-in-hand to bring design to fruition.
  • Construct prototypes and confirm designs with design/purchasing team.
  • Draw and create blueprints and other schematics needed.
Education, Experience, Skills, and Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline, such as mechanical engineering or industrial design; or AS degree or applicable certificate with related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 years of experience drafting steel stairs, structural steel, and handrails.
  • Diverse experience in reading architectural and structural drawings.
  • Experience with SolidWorks is mandatory.
  • Experience with Inventor, AutoCad, Advanced Steel, Tekla and SDS/2 is a bonus.
  • Extensive knowledge of metal fabrication processes.
  • Impeccable attention to detail.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and problem solve effectively.
