The Estimating Director is accountable for managing the estimating process for Automotive and Manufacturing sector projects in a manner consistent with the company values, policies and procedures.  This individual is accountable for the satisfaction of clients and the quality and competitiveness of assigned estimates.  This role will support business acquisition efforts and will engage in training and development of staff personnel.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Accountable for discharge of all estimating related responsibilities.
  • Responsible to effectively lead and manage any assigned personnel, to include professional development of staff, in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Take lead in the development of "Win" strategy for highly complex project pursuits.
  • Actively engaged in business acquisition efforts (e.g. client presentations)
  • Participate in and support the project selection ("go/no go") process.
  • Assist in managing estimating/pre-construction responsibilities for alternative delivery methods.
  • Serve as Estimating Team Leader.
  • Cultivate and maintain extensive subcontractor/supplier/client/designer relationships.
  • Be a go-to person for detailed knowledge of craft labor collective bargaining contracts and labor agreements as well as company insurance and bonding requirements.
  • Research and interpret projects pricing trends including escalation.
  • Understand corporate safety statistics and policies and their impact on estimates.
  • Write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related technical field.
  • 10 plus years of related experience in automotive and/or manufacturing sectors; such as construction of car plants, large manufacturing facilities, etc.
  • Minimum of 1 year of field experience.
  • Familiarity with industry manufacturing processes and possess advanced knowledge of construction elements.
  • Extensive estimation experience.
  • Effective management and leadership of personnel.
  • Familiar with delivery methods such as LS, BV, etc.
  • Experience in working within Joint Ventures.
  • Capable of performing highly complex take-offs, final pricing and buy-out activities.
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Strong presentations skills in an effort to present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Efficient comprehension and application of principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deals with several abstract and concrete variables.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

AGC, AIA, AIC, ASPE, BIM, CPC, CPE, DBIA, EIT, LEED, PE or other relevant certifications and/or organizational memberships are highly encouraged.
