Michigan-based metal manufacturer seeks an energetic and results-oriented Industrial Electrician with Leadership.  Company focuses on operational excellence, having a skilled and dedicated work force, and providing high quality components that demand niche expertise and manufacturing efficiency.  They seek not only to build great products, but to build great relationships with their customers.

The Industrial Electrician is responsible for maintaining all electrical systems by providing electrical power to all equipment, offering engineering support, and managing shift staff members.

Second Shift Position -- 1:30 - 10pm

Job Responsibilities:
  • Maintain electrical power though out the plant
  • Achieve electrical maintenance operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews, preparing and completing action plans, and implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards.
  • Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions -- troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
  • Maintain supplies inventory by checking electrical material stock to determine inventory levels, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for electrical material, and reviewing and approving invoices.
  • Wire work station cubicles by studying blueprints, laying-out circuitry for common and dedicated electrical outlets, and providing raceways for telephone communications.
  • Provide lighting by maintaining electrical lighting fixtures.
  • Provide engineering support by responding to requests for mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Comply with applicable codes by adhering to requirements and advising senior management on needed actions; assure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other governmental regulations.
  • Update electrical and mechanical engineering job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
Main Equipment:
  • Induction furnace.
  • Trim press.
  • Compressors.
  • Plant and facility lighting and power structure.
  • PLCs (troubleshooting).
  • Industrial controls.
Desired Education, Skills, and Experience:
  • AS degree in Electrical Engineering discipline (preferred) or 5 years of plant electrical experience with high school diploma (Journeyman preferred).
  • 2 plus years of manufacturing experience, preferably in heavy manufacturing industry; metals industry preferred.
  • Demonstrated technical abilities with AC drives, Allen Bradley PLC’s (troubleshooting), hydraulic & pneumatic systems, and 3-phase power & motor controls.
  • Leadership and management experience -- excellent mentoring, staff development, and personnel training skills.
  • Positive attitude placing safety and quality as highest priorities.
  • Heavy experience in equipment maintenance and facilities management systems.
  • Functional skills with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other software where applicable
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels.
Electrical Maintenance is a 24/7 job, so must be ready to work when needed and get hands dirty!
