Well respected manufacturer is seeking an energetic, bright, experienced engineer to help shape processes and make improvements.  A long history of hard work and a focus on customer service are what have made this company successful over the years; and they need an an engineer who can carry the torch into the future.  Company supplies component parts for the appliance, consumer, and automotive product markets and is capable of extrusion, fabrication, anodizing, and finishing.

The Manufacturing Engineer develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.  They will also play a role in recommending and implementing improvements to production processes, methods and controls as well being responsible for coordinating manufacturing launch for new or revised products.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Evaluates manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; applying knowledge of product design, extrusion, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Assists in quotation process and new product cost analysis.
  • Plans sample production and assists in the scheduling and coordination of sample and prototype manufacturing, process development, and part validation.
  • Reduces product cost through value engineering and/or value analysis.
  • Tracks projects and creates timelines when appropriate. Establishes and successfully manages budget and timing for equipment purchases and installation.
  • Participates in problem solving and customer complaint resolution.
  • Uses lean tools, APQP, Root Cause Analysis, Process Flow, PFMEA, Design of Experiment, and statistics where appropriate.
  • Organizes and leads teams to achieve specific project and improvement tasks.
  • Reviews qualifications and determines suitability of vendors and their products.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, line balancing, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Education, Experience, Skills, and Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Experience in high volume manufacturing facility.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM, Microsoft Project and other computer skills.  
  • Demonstrated ability in print reading, CAD, 3D CAD, and GD&T interpretation.  
  • Background in engineering under TS16949, ISO9001, or QS environment.
  • Certification in Lean Production Systems or in-depth experience in using this systematic method in manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work independently, find solutions to complex problems, make effective decisions, and respond in a timely manner.
