Plant Lean Manager


Large and growing components manufacturer for the Automotive industry is seeking a Lean site manager for their plant in Missouri.  The Lean site manager collaborates with Corporate Lean functions and plant management team in the implementation and coordination of Lean initiatives/projects to enhance the organizational effectiveness in lean manufacturing. Provides hands-on application and teaching of lean techniques on the manufacturing floor. As a member of Operations, contributes to team development and continuous improvement in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Inventory and company metrics. 

Job Responsibilities
  1. Strategizes with Corporate Lean functions and plant/facility management to initiate and prioritize Lean projects. Determines the scope, objectives, metrics, cost, schedule and necessary resource requirements.
  2. Coordinates the planning and execution, from start to completion, of Lean projects and working
    side-by-side with work area management and associated work groups to fully implement and assure sustaining mechanisms are in place.
  3. Proactively involves employees at all levels of the organization to gain their input and support.
  4. Collaborates with Corporate and other site Lean functions in educating and training company Team Members in the various Lean manufacturing concepts, tools and methods.
  5. Leads plant-wide tracking of Lean project plans. Drives the completion of tasks generated in project meetings and monitors sustaining activities to ensure successful and timely completion of action items.
  6. Documents procedures and changes that result from Lean initiatives to ensure efforts and expected results are sustained.
  7. Tracks financial results and reports on quantifiable goals and objectives. Estimates future projects from financial, throughput, lead time and on-time performance improvements to assist in prioritization of projects.
  8. Collaborates with Corporate and other site Lean functions in communicating results and accomplishments of projects to plant management and Team Members.  Works with management to establish and continuously meet their needs through business/performance metrics.
  9. Benchmarks industry best practices to identify future improvements and opportunities.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
 
  • 5+ years related experience utilizing lean, process improvement and continuous improvement practices in manufacturing.
  • Four-year degree in Engineering or related technical degree preferred.  Business related considered
  • Certified and Practicing Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt, preferred
  • 3+ years project Lean management experience
  • Technical quality standards and procedures experience, such as TS 16949, ISO, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, Cost of Quality, etc.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office. Project Management software experience preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge in organizational and process improvement tools such as process flow mapping, root cause analysis, etc.
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean principles such as Value Stream Mapping, Just-In-Time, Demand Flow, Single Piece Flow, Five S’s, Visual Management, Total Productive Maintenance, Continuous Improvement Process, Kaizen, SPC, Six Sigma and Communication Tools, Statistical Problem Solving, or similar is preferred.
