Job Description

A large, family owned and operated business, founded in 1962, specializing in large-scale structural steel and heavy plate fabrication is seeking a motivated Welder/Fabricator to join their growing business.  The company is located in Schofield, Wisconsin, only a 3-hour drive to Milwaukee, or a 2 hour drive to Green Bay.  The Welder/Fabricator role is a key part of the overall production operation of heavy structural steel.  



Essential Job Functions:
  • Flux-core welding ( 1/16 wire)
  • Fabricating
  • Laying out, positioning, aligning, and fitting parts for heavy structural steel products.
  • Read and interpret project plans and other written instructions and diagrams to perform task at hand.
  • Examine workpieces for defects and measure workpieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
  • Prepare all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter.
  • Maintain equipment and machinery.


Qualifications/Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/ GED preferred
  • AISC certified
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to focus on accuracy while checking fabricated pieces assuring quality.
  • Experience with complex welding procedures and reading complex prints is highly preferred.
  • Strong work ethic, attitude, aptitude and maturity.
